Snow snow snoooooooowwwww!

Snow Snow Snooooooowwwww!

Snow by: Irving Berlin

Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh

Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow

One of our favorite Christmas songs is “Snow” from White Christmas, the kids and I will sing it very loudly and very badly as we drive down a sun filled highway. Southern California, to be more precise Orange County, does not get that much snow. We get none in fact. The kids sit with me watching hours of Hallmark Christmas movies where every scene is covered in white sheets of snow. (Yes, I realize it is all fake and we also discuss how well each movie pulls off the fake snow but that is a different post.) As December closes and Christmas passes both Allison and William lament that we NEVER have snow.
This winter we were very lucky to have a trip to Big Bear CA. We stayed at the cutest cabin ever thanks to Jason and Noelle as well as Di and Kevin. These generous people gave up a long weekend to let my kiddos frolic in the powdery goodness. After work on Friday we loaded the Scion up with snow chains and headed to the mountains. We arrived after the sun went down and snuggled into bed with the heater blazing and the promise of fun for the morning. It was expected to snow the next day, the kids have never seen the snow actually falling. The little cabin was covered in brand new powder, it was so fluffy that we couldn’t even make snowballs. The snow just puffed into the wind. There was sledding at Onyx summit and a snow picnic near the San Bernardino campground. Allison has been talking about making a snow angel since she first saw someone make it on TV. She made three different versions throughout the area. I think she did a great job!

Snow is beautiful and fun to play in; I am so glad we can drive to it and have some fun. I think next time I will make more snowmen!
