A Whole New World ...

A Whole New World …

Yes, I am referencing the Aladdin song so sing away people because I have found an “enchanted place I never knew” staying at home with my crazy babies. They are sweet, exuberant and a royal pain in my arse but I cannot believe how the time has flown and yet only a month has passed since I left the routine of nearly two decades. I can barely remember how that other life felt, how I kept to that incredible schedule. I was able to still find a way to cram in time for my family. Now I have every hour throughout the day to do anything that I want with them and the days are still brief. Day Light Saving began this month we all sprang forward and lost track of an entire hour that frankly had messed me up so that I feel like I lost a day instead of an hour but it is the most glorious time of the year for this sun loving girl. The days are no longer than they used to be but to me the sun being out just means I get more time. I stay out later, stay up later and decide that the kids can have special treats. I don’t really understand the last one except maybe because I think that long days mean summer and summer means ice cream. This brings us to last Monday when my daughter turned to me at 8:45 pm and said, “Moma we need some ice cream.”

I said,”Hmmm … we don’t have any right now.”
“There is ice cream at the store. We should go and get some.”
“Your Brother is asleep.”
“Daddy can watch him.”
“We should go get some ice cream then? Do you want to pick it out?”
“Yes, hurry Moma! We need lots of chocolate ice cream.”

We came back with Moose Tracks Extreme and Peanut Butter Candy and both were amazingly delicious. I am also not embarrassed to admit that I may have had ice cream for breakfast because that same sweet girl thought it was a good idea, she was right. When my Sister-in-Law stayed with us later that week I offered her the usual breakfast items and then said, “I will be having ice cream, would you like some?” That’s right at this B&B we have a fabulous blow up mattress, crying babies in the next room and chocolate ice cream for breakfast.

There has to be at least one booty shot of the boy on this blog, there is one of his sister. It's only fair.

This week has been full of indulgent pleasures that only living in California can supply. It is merely March and in other parts of the country they are still dealing with snow while we are having 80-90 degree weather, that’s right I have been to the beach three times already this year. Terry’s brother and his wife, Jake and Lauren, came to California from Washington for their vacation. You may remember them from last year when Allison was in their wedding, we got to go to the other side of the country to celebrate their union. We spent most of last week with them enjoying the beach and Disneyland. Lauren, or Aunt Raulen as Allison calls her,  asked if the weather would be good enough for the beach about a week before she came out and the weather did not disappoint. The last day in southern CA the boys, Terry and Jake, went to enjoy some driving in the dirt – Rally Cross. The girls slept in and had a leisurely lunch. I think us girls got the better option, we didn't have to get up at 5:00 am after going to Disneyland the day before and staying up late into the night talking. I rarely get to do that, talking with adults into the night, it felt grown up and indulgent.

She wouldn't look at me, she was enthralled by the dancing waitress.

He was not so impressed with the dancing.

I can’t wait for real summer to come around, then I will get to spend hours in our pool with all of the other kids out on break. I will get to go to the beach in the middle of week in the middle of the day! For now I am going to as many baseball games as I can, both of my nephews play ball. I have been to more games this season then I have been able to in past and I really love it. I am going to rearrange my house, again, and find all kinds of other domestic things to do.

Until next time!
